Mr. Rogers offspring!

In the Hindustan Times newspaper last week an article reported that our youth believe in horoscopes like never before. Three thousand young people were polled, and two-thirds of them said that they believe horoscopes are true. Significantly, only one-third believed the Bible to be true. Had I been polled, I would have stated I believe in neither. It is in my nature to seek advice and information as close to oneself as possible. I often find this advice lives within a circle of family and friends, a small collection of books, and other reliable "close" resources like Google Search.
I had a wonderful talk with my dear friend Maria this morning. I had to settle for a cellphone conversation being that Maria is in Brazil, but today would be a perfect day to walk with Maria and have a heartfelt conversation while immersed in nature. I wish that is how I could spend today, but as they say in TN, you can wish in one hand and shit in another, and see which one fills up faster. Fortunately my wish that Maria will come home for the holidays has already fruited as she procured a plane ticket to VA, and I won't have to carry around a bucket of poo. Not only is she coming home, but watch out West Virginia; the annual Girls Gone Wilderness in Canaan Valley is coming through in late December 2006!!!!
Maria delivered a message from the heavens this morning. For sometime now I've been thinking that when God wanted me to have a dog, a dog would "find" me. It turns out Maria's English labradors, Mr. Rogers and Clementine, had 8 puppies, and I may be the proud owner of a blackie in 2 months time. Hence, a circle of love will close nearer on me, and I'll have a little buddy. Maybe I'll name little blackie Rip-Rap (name of trail in SHEN), or Baxter/Sterling/Cosby (name of my favorite spots in GRSM).

  1. I vote for Riprap or Cosby. Baxter is too...cliché maybe?
