Twenty volunteers enjoyed an unseasonably warm afternoon cutting new trail to relocate the AT on Iron Mountain Gap last Saturday. The trailwork was a cake walk - lots of duff and fluffy soil, free of roots and rocks. The teamwork was most enjoyable - met a thru-hiker, Cold Feet, who hails from Blacksburg and recently divorced an oceanic engineer (see my blog post on September 29). I also met an ETSU prof whom I would like to cultivate a TVA-ETSU partnership with. I would like his environmental studies students and ETSU's recreation students to fill seasonal staff positions at TVA - which I am working on getting approved.
